Ignorant Predictions – Playoffs and Super Bowl

Writer: George PatersonGeorge Paterson

With less than a week to go until the opening kick-off, these are my fearless playoff and Super Bowl predictions! Some notes first:

I have the Steelers winning 11 games…and missing the playoffs, reminiscent of the ’08 Pats. I also have KC winning 12 games, but losing out on the tie-breaker with Cincy and coming in as the sixth seed. The AFC is going to be wild!

NFC Wildcard Round

2 GB v 7 DAL: 24 – 13 GB

Green Bay’s class on both sides of the ball will get them through over a game Dallas D.

3 LAR v 6 MIN: 28 – 9 LAR

Minnesota’s offense will be very good, but the Rams D will dominate and LA will cruise to the Divisional Round

4 PHI v 5 NO: 30 – 27 (OT) NO

New Orleans and Philly will have a knock-down, drag-out barn-burner with the Saints winning a tough one at the Linc in OT.

AFC Wildcard Round

2 BUF v 7 NE: 35 – 24 BUF

I have the Bills sweeping Buffalo, including winning back to back games in Week 18 and the Wildcard, despite Bill Bellichick’s best game plans.

3 IND v 6 KC: 44 – 31 IND

Indy rides a dominant running game and a rock-solid defence and win at home against a disappointing Chiefs team.

4 BAL v 5 CIN: 26 – 20 (OT)

Burrow leads a 4th quarter comeback with a 60 yard bomb in OT to Tee Higgins for an AFC North barnburner.

NFC Divisional Round:

2 GB v 3 LAR: 24 – 20 GB

GB uses the frozen tundra to their advantage and beats a game Rams team at Lambeau.

1 TB v 4 NO: 30 – 21 TB

TB beats their South rivals at home and Tom gets another shot at the NFC Championship.

AFC Divisional Round:

1 LAC V 4 CIN: 33 – 28 LAC

Herbert and the Chargers hold off a furious comeback effort from the Bengals after taking an early lead and head to the Championship at home.

2 BUF v 3 IND: 44 – 10 BUF

The Bills’ class shows through as they dispatch the overmatched Colts.

Conference Championships:

NFC – 1 TB v 2 GB: 35 – 32 (OT)

The legend of Aaron Rodgers continues as he beats his fellow senior citizen to get Green Bay back to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2010.

AFC – 1 LAC v 2 BUF: 48 – 44 LAC

The battle of the “Next One” ends with Herbert outduelling Josh Allen in the best game of the year.

Super Bowl LVII – Glendale, Arizona

1 LAC v 2 GB: 27 – 20 GB

The stars align for Rodgers and the Packers turn the lights out on the Chargers in Arizona.

Put money on it, this is the way it’s going to roll this year. Stay tuned later in the week for the projected award winners for both conferences, and the Week One Rams vs Bills preview!
